SIGOURNEY - Erma Ruggles McBeth Pilcher, 79, of Sigourney, died January 11, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. She was born March 1, 1924, in Ollie. She married Firman McBeth on August 3, 1941. They later divorced. She married Lloyd Pilcher on November 22, 1983.
She attended Carter Country School near Ollie. She was a homemaker and lived most of her life in Keokuk and Wapello Counties. She was a member of the Delta Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, five sons, five daughters, 21 grandchildren, and 27 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Walter, Arthur, Otto, and infants Glenny and Harold Ruggles; and six sisters, Lola Helmick, Dorothy Reinier, Marie Ellis, Edythe Daly, Mae Belle Oaley, and infant Winfred Ruggles.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Delta Methodist Church with the Rev. Vince Homan officiating. Burial will be at Mount Zion Cemetery near Martinsburg.
Visitation will be after 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Holm Funeral Home in Sigourney, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
A memorial has been established to the Delta Methodist Church, Holm Funeral Home, Sigourney, is in charge of arrangements.
