Burlingame Cemetery (better known as the Hicks Cemetery)
From St. Anthony (their welcome sign) continue north on Hwy A, just a little way, until you come to the Herbert Otto farm, on the left. Go up the hill and continue on around until you come to the last house. Mr. Otto wants you to let him know that you are going to the cemetery. You can see the cemetery from Mr. Otto’s yard. The cemetery is tended and fenced. According to Mr. Otto the cemetery was originally called the Burlingame Cemetery for it was listed that way on his abstract.

Asa Franklin Burlingame (Sr.) was born February 28, 1790, in Cranston, Rhode Island. In about 1810, he married Lydia Mowry, who was born about 1788 in Belle Valley, Ohio, in what is now Noble county. Asa (Sr.) served as a Captain of the Cranston, R.I. Militia in the war of 1812-14. After the war, Asa (Sr.) and his family joined the company of Colonel Joseph Lippitt and moved west. Asa (Sr.) purchased land in the northwest territory at what is now Hiramsburgh, Ohio, and made a home for his family. He was the first Postmaster of Hiramsburgh, and was also innkeeper, farmer, judge and teacher. First wife Lydia would die August 18, 1820 shortly after giving birth to her last child. Sometime after their last child was born, the Asa Burlingame (Sr.) and 2nd wife Sally and family moved west, settling in Cole county, Missouri.
