Flora Cathrine Vaughn was born October 23, 1863, at Sherrill, N.Y., and died at her home in Belleville, Kans., April 6, 1919 at the age of 56 years, 5 months and 14 days.
She was married to Charles E. Smith at Oneida, N.Y. on August 7, 1880 and to this union two children were born, Edna Gertie, who died at eleven years of age, and Walter Frank Smith, of Belleville, Kansas. At the death of Mr. Smith in October 20, 1886, the care of the family of both her own children and those of her husband by another marriage fell upon the young wife.
At Oneida, N.Y. on January 26, 1893, she was united in marriage to J.N. Snyder of Belleville, Kans. To this union was born one son, Forest of this city.
More than twenty years ago she obeyed the Gospel and she was a faithful disciple of the Lord until the end. She was a noble woman, who lived for her family and for church, serving her Redeemer and rejoicing in His service. She will be greatly missed by her family and in the church.
She leaves besides her husband and two sons a number of relatives and friends who mourn her death.
Funeral services was held at the Christian church on Tuesday afternoon, April 8, being conducted by Rev. J.F. Hay. Burial was made in the Belleville Cemetery.
