Mrs. D. M. Hutchens Dead.
Impressive funeral largely attended in respect to memory of noble woman.
Special Correspondence.
Labelle, Fremont Co., Idaho, May 26, 1905. One of the largest funerals ever held in this section of the country was held here today in the meetinghouse over the remains of Mrs. Martha E Harrop Hutchens, wife of David M Hutchens, who departed this life on the moring of the 23rd inst., after a very brief illness. The cause of death being pneumonia. The assembly room was to small to hold the crowd that came to pay tribute of respect to a noble women. The services were procided over by bishop John Morgan of Labelle. The speakers were Bishop Morgan and Elders Larson, Gomer, Browning, and Young. The remains were interred in the LaBelle-Menan Cementery (now known as Annis Little Butte Cementery). Over 60 teams and 350 people followed the herse to the place of interment, though the distance was six miles.
At the grave a quartet was song by four of her old neighbors. The grave was dedicated by Bishop John Morgan.
Martha was born near Ogden in July 1865, and was in her fortieth year. She is the daughter of Joseph and Martha Harrop, who came to Ogden in the 1850's and were well known and highly respected citzens of that place. Martha was one of the pioneer women of this place, having moved here with her husband about ninteen years ago.
She leaves her husband and four children, the youngest a girl of four years, to mourn her death.
