Philip M. Herring, 76, of Pensacola, entered into the loving arms of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 17, 2011.
Philip was born in Georgiana, AL and had resided in Pensacola for the past 28 years. He was an avid Alabama fan. Roll Tide!
He was a member of the Pensacola Worship Center Church of God. He will always be remembered for his love and devotion to Jesus Christ, people, and his faithfulness and dedication as the Worship Center's Chaplain of Care Ministries.
Philip also served 20 years in the U.S. Army where he was awarded 4 bronze stars for his service in Vietnam.
He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Bobbie Jo Pugh.
Survivors include his daughters, Gwen (Richard) Shaw, Diane (Artie) Rogers, and Phyllis (Tommy) Roycraft; brother, Douglas C. Herring (Cathy); sister, Glenda Cook; 4 grandsons; 3 granddaughters; 3 great-grandsons which includes his little buddy Jacob, Jr.; many nieces, nephews, and countless friends. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 20, 2011 at Pensacola Worship Center Church of God from 5 p.m.-7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 at 11:30 a.m. also at the church. Burial will follow at Barrancas National Cemetery.
