She was born on December 9, 1925 in Clinton, Iowa to Lisle and Carol Little Switzer. She married Walter Adams, Jr. on December 29, 1946. He preceded her in death on March 7, 1983.
She is also preceded in death by her parents and one son, Robert Adams.
Jean is survived by two sons, Thomas Adams of Macomb and Reverend William (Cindy) Adams of Glen Carbon, Illinois; one daughter, Nancy (John) Whitecar of Plymouth, Michigan; five grandchildren, Emily, Ellen and Erin Adams and Jacob and Katherine Whitecar; one brother, Lisle Switzer of Hackettstown, New Jersey and one sister, Barbara (Don) Newton of Maryville, Tennessee.
She has lived in Macomb since she was in the third grade. She received her Bachelor's of Education from Western Illinois University. Jean was a fourth grade teacher at Logan School in Macomb for many years before her retirement in 1991.
She was a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church and Retired Teacher's Association.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, September 24, 2011 at Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home in Macomb with Doctor Howard White officiating. Visitation will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery in Macomb.
Memorials may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church.
