Obituary - Katherine Deines
Katherine Deines, was born August 29, 1896 in Russia. Her parents George Krug and Anna, nee Wegelln, dedicated their little infant daughter to the Triune God in the sacrament of holy baptism that it might be His own forever.
When the child was about four years old the family emigrated to America settling on a farm near Russell, Kansas. In the fall of 1902 she began to attend school. Having reached the proper age she also sought religious training in the Lutheran church and after having received the ordinary catechetical instruction joined the Lutheran church in her confirmation which took place in the St. John's Lutheran Church of Russell, Kansas, May 15, 1910.
Most of the days of her life were spent in the parental home until she was given in marriage to Ludwig Deines. God blessed this union with seven children: Ruth, Harwin, Rosalinda, Rosella, Roland, Waldean and Gerald.
Our departed sister generally enjoyed good health until October 24, when she was attacked with what was diagnosed by the physician as influenza. Soon pneumonia set in the life of the patient endangering considerably. All attainable medical care was secured and for weeks the condition was floating between hope and fear. Finally a third kind of an ailment rose up to which the weakened body had to succumb. Last Thursday the deadly sick woman was taken to the hospital but the ebbing life could not be detained. Last Saturday at 5:20 a.m. the poor sufferer passed peacefully away at an age of 38 years, three months and two days.
She leaves to mourn her early death her husband, the above mentioned seven children, three brothers and two sisters, beside a host of other relatives and firends.
Funeral services were held from Immanuel Lutheran Church of Milberger on Monday morning and interment was in the Immanuel's Cemetery with Rev. J. Gemaehlich officiating.
