Lenora Alice Mewmaw, daughter of Stephen Arnold Douglas and Elizabeth Cochran Riggen, was born near Milan, MO, 5 Mar 1881, and passed away at the Grim-Smith Hospital in Kirksville, 3 Feb 1968.
In 1918 she was united in marriage to Nathan A. Mewmaw, who preceded her in death in July 1957.
For many years she was associated with her husband in the operation of the Mewmaw Brothers Racket Store and in later years, prior to their retirement, in the operation of the Home Oil and Supply Co. in Milan.
Until failing health curtailed her activities, she was an ardent worker in the Milan Methodist Church and Olive Chapter No. 65, the Order of Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Pearl, who died in infancy, and three brothers, J. Clarence Riggen, Alva Ray Riggen and Bernie P. Riggen.
Surviving are one niece, Mrs. Joe (Madalyn) May, Independence, Carl Riggen, Liberty, Paul Riggen, Allen Park, MI, Merrill Riggen, Lubbock, TX, and Russell Riggen, Milan; and a number of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted at the Milan Methodist Church, 6 Feb 1968 at 2:30 p.m. by Rev. Dwight Bingham.
"Near to the Heart of God" and "No Night There" were sung by Mrs. Mary Ann Cowgill and Charles P. Crocker, accompanied by Mrs. Margaret Marr.
Pallbearers were Claget Sterling, Ray Fairley, Kyle Wilson, Harvey Dean, Robert Wilson and Elva Miller.
Eastern Star rites were conducted at the Riggen Funeral Home at 8:00 p.m., 5 Feb 1968, by members of Olive Chapter No. 65, Order of the Eastern Star.
