Funeral at Paris for Mrs. Flanders, Republican Leader
PARIS, Sept. 9. — Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Speed and Blakey Funeral Home for Mrs. Betty Gore Bodine Flanders, 85, who died at 11:30 o'clock Saturday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nell Blakey in Paris.
Mrs. Flanders sustained a fractured hip about three ago and suffered a stroke Wednesday night and another one Thursday night.
Mrs. Flanders was one of Paris' prominent women and formerly served as postmistress of Paris for several years. She was prominent in club and church work and in the activities of the Republican party in the county. She was the widow W. E. Flanders, former postmaster of Paris, who also was interested in Republican party activities.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Blakey and Mrs. Lavinia Calhoon of Shreveport, La.; two sons, Robert Flanders of Atlanta, Ga., and Jerome Flanders of New York City. All children were present for the funeral services.
The Rev. W. A. Wimberly, pastor of the Paris Christian church, of which Mrs. Flanders was a member, conducted the services. Burial was in Walnut Grove cemetery.
