Info. from FAG member Cherie Officer and Olean (NY) Evening Herald, October 11, 1923 Page 5. Almira died at her home in Portville after a years illness due to heart trouble. She was the daughter of Samuel John Mills and Esther Caroline (Butts) Mersereau. On October 27, 1875 she married William E. Wheeler in Portville, NY. At the time of her death she was survived by four children, William M. Wheeler, San Francisco, CA., John E. and Lawrence R. Wheeler of Portland, OR., and Mrs Eleanor W. Pfeiffer of New York City, NY. Almira was a member of the Portville Presbyterian Church for 50 years and had a deep interest in all of its activities, particulary in the field of foreign missions. The funeral was held at her home on October 12, 1923.

Almira had a brother, William Bradford Mersereau. William was married to Helen Emily Leavens. Helen was the daughter of Eugene and Charlotte (Davis) Leavens.
