She was the daughter of Samuel John Mills and Esther Caroline (Butts) Mersereau. On October 27, 1875 she married William E. Wheeler in Portville, NY. At the time of her death she was survived by four children, William M. Wheeler, San Francisco, CA., John E. and Lawrence R. Wheeler of Portland, OR., and Mrs Eleanor W. Pfeiffer of New York City, NY. Almira was a member of the Portville Presbyterian Church for 50 years and had a deep interest in all of its activities, particulary in the field of foreign missions. The funeral was held at her home on October 12, 1923.
