PLEASANT GROVE Karl R. Yocom, 56, died of a heart attack on Wednesday, June 15, 1983 in Longmont, Colo.
He was born July 23, 1926 in Salt Lake City to Frank M. and Eliza Holder Yocom.
He married Barbara Warren on Aug. 22, 1945 in Salt Lake City.
He attended school in Salt Lake City and was a member of the LDS Church, Pleasant Grove 16th Ward. He was a former owner and operator of Grove Machinery and Fabrication. He worked as a machinist at Geneva Steel and had been employed by North American Van Lines. Mr. Yocom was a World War II veteran.
Survivors include his wife of Pleasant Grove; three sons and one daughter, Mrs. Fred W. (Linda) Manning and Brian Yocom, both of Tremonton; Karl Yocom Jr., Santaquin; Michael Yocom, Orem; nine grandchildren, mother of Pleasant Grove; four brothers and four sisters, Frank Yocom, Daisy Gerhke and Mrs. Henry (Beth) Gerritsen, all of Salt Lake City; Keith Yocom, West Valley City; Alvin Yocom, Pleasant Grove; Gerald Yocom, Tennessee; Mrs. H.V. (Margaret) Holdaway, Orem; Mrs. Robert (Mildred) Orband, Sparks, Nev.
Monday services were under the direction of Bishop Jay Macfarlane of the Pleasant Grove Sixteenth Ward. The family prayer was given by Brian K. Yocom. The prelude and postlude were played by Sharon Ellington. The invocation was by Karl R. Yocom, Jr.
Remarks were given by Patrick Ellington and a vocal solo was sung by Brian K. Yocom, "A Poor Wayfaring Man of Grief. A tribute was read by Beverly Yocom accompanied by Terry Robinson.
Remarks were given by Tom S. Paul and a vocal selection was sung by the grandchildren "I Feel My Savior's Love" accompanied by Linda Harris.
The benediction was by Robert Craighead and the dedication of the grave in the Pleasant Grove City Cemetery was by Michael W. Yocom.
Pallbearers were Michael W. Yocom, Brian K. Yocom, Alvin M. Yocom, Wayne Yocom, Fred Manning, Christopher Manning, Dean Manning and Marvin H. Holdaway. Honorary pallbearers were Frank M. Yocom, Keith H. Yocom, Gerald Yocom and Henry Gerritsen.
