JOHNNY COWARD
John Earl "Johnny" Coward, 56, of 826 Jackson Street, died Monday, May 19, 2003, at his home.
A native of Spartanburg, he was the son of Harry Nathan Coward of Spartanburg and the late Mary Jane (McSwain) Coward. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg. He was a member of Lone Oak Lodge, Hejaz Shriners, and was a volunteer for Hilltop Fire Department.
Surviving, in addition to his father, are his stepmother, Alma White Coward, of Spartanburg; and a sister, Virginia Sue Coward Spiers, of Houston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 23, 2003, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel. Burial will be at Greenlawn Memorial Garden.

He was a truck driver with Nationwide Trucking Co. and a former machinist. He was a member of First Baptist Church of North Spartanburg and a former member of Bethany Baptist Church. A graduate of Fairforest High School, he attended Spartanburg Methodist College, Limestone College, Spartanburg Technical College and Greenville Technical College. He was a member of Lone Oak Lodge and Hejaz Shriners and was a volunteer for Hilltop Fire Department.
Surviving in addition to his father are his stepmother, Alma White Coward of Spartanburg; and a sister, Virginia Sue Coward Spiers of Houston.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Floyd's Greenlawn Chapel.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the chapel, conducted by the Rev. Glenn Rusher. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memorial Gardens.
