I have found no documentation to support that Leonard Ivey is the son of Jesse Ivey. Nor have I found any proof that Jesse Ivey was married to a Charity. There was a Charity Ivey found in the 1850 census near Leonard, but it is obviously the Charity that is found in the 1830 and 1840 censuses. Additionally, she is found buying and selling land, as well as in early tax lists. This is also while Jesse Ivey is still alive and found in different areas (on census, tax, and deed records).
Based upon census records, Jesse Ivey had a lot less sons than what other researchers are passing around.

It is likely that Leonard is a brother to Helen Ivey who married Hardy J. Stone, and Maris Ivey, who married Daniel Ivey. Leonard named a daughter Maris, Helen named a son Leonard, and both Maris and Leonard had sons named Richard born about the same time.

Helen and Maris can definitively be placed as sisters, as they are found in the 1880 census marked as such.

It is possible that Helen, Maris, and Leonard were children of Lewis Ivey or Charles Ivey.
