Warren G. Brown, 76, of 46 St. Peter St., Schuylkill Haven, a former Chief of Police, town council president, and tax assessor of the East Ward, died Thursday at 9 p.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital. In ill health for one year he was admitted to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
Born in Schuylkill Haven, and a life long resident, he was a son of the late Capt. Charles E. and Frances Mellon Brown, and was the last member of his family.
He was a member of Trinity Evangelical Church, Schuylkill Haven, where he served as secretary of the official board, and was a former Sunday School superintendent. A Spanish American war veteran, he was a member of Camp Theodore Hoffman S.A.W.V. Asso., Pottsville; Moose Lodge, Pottsville; the P.O.S. of A., Schuylkill Haven.
He served as tax assessor until ill health necessitated his retirement. For his interest in Boy Scouts, he received the Silver Beaver Award in 1947.
Surviving are his wife, the former Annie Deibert; one son, Lawton, Newtown, Bucks County.
Funeral on Monday afternoon from the D.M. Bittle Funeral Home, Schuylkill Haven, with Dr. CHarles R. Kachel, Reading, officiating, assisted by the Rev. Nevin Snyder, Schuylkill Haven. Interment in the Union Cemetery.
