E. Eugene "Gene" Medley, 82, of Bloomington, passed away with his family by his side Sunday, August 28. 2011 at the I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital Born, January 12, 1929 in Orange County, IN, he was the son of Florence O. Medley-Brown. Gene was the owner/proprietor of Gene's Television Sales and Service in Worthington and he was a member of the Grace Baptist Temple. He was a loving husband and father who enjoyed ball room dancing, singing and reading. Survivors include his wife, Marilyn M. (Hadley) Austin-Medley, his daughter, Barb Deckard (Dan), three grandsons, Shawn Deckard, Robert Deckard and Dustin Deckard (Brandi) two great-grandchildren, Tyler Deckard and Clayton Deckard all of Bloomington, one stepdaughter, Linda Buchanan (Greg) of Finley, two step-sons, Robert Austin (Roberta) of Indianapolis, James Austin (Diane) of Avon, four step-grandsons, James S. Austin of Indianapolis, Paul Austin of Texas, Jacob Buchanan of Traswell, Brandon Austin of Indianapolis, five step-granddaughters, Tracey Buchanan of Indianapolis, Angela Schalk of Finley, Courtney Thomas of Ohio, Heather Bennett of Indianapolis, Shalina Austin of Avon and 12 step great-grandchildren. Services will be 10:30am Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard, 3000 E. Third St. in Bloomington with Myron Young and Doug Thompson officiating. Visitation will be 4-8pm Tuesday at The Funeral Chapel. Burial will be at Clear Creek Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Baptist Temple, 2320 N. Smith Pike, Bloomington, IN 47404.
