Ursula M. Rettela, 95, died peacefully on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at her home. Ursula was born July 28, 1916, in Belgium, Wis., daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Petesh) Mayer. She was united in marriage to Richard W. Wilke and he preceded her in death on April 18, 1966. Ursula then married Walter Rettela and they together lived in California for over 20 years before he also preceded her in death on April 28, 1992.

She had a strong love for her family, and was a devoted Catholic woman, who was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Parish, in New Holstein, a former member of St. Pius X in Appleton, and St. Wendel in Cleveland, Wis. She was a hard worker and loved being in the yard and enjoyed cooking for her family. Ursula was also an avid Packer fan.

Ursula is lovingly survived by her four children, Judy (Bill) Dern, Mercedes, Texas; Janice (Robert) Pine, Round Rock, Texas; Richard (Mary) Wilke, Plymouth, Wis.; and Vicky (Michael) Kelly, Lynchburg, Va.; eight grandchildren, Russell (Shelley) Dern, Ingrid Pine, Michael Pine, Gail (Eric) Duncan, Debbie (Doug) Hawley, Michelle (Jim) Marshall, Erin Kelly and Shea Kelly; six great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Theresa Daun; and special friend Ray; two brothers, Robert (Alice) Mayer and Richard Mayer; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ursula was also preceded in death by seven brothers and four sisters.

The Mass of the Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 27, 2011, at Holy Rosary Catholic Parish, 1724 Madison Street, New Holstein, with the Rev. Harry Berryman officiating. Interment will be in St. Wendel Cemetery, Cleveland.
