Obituary: (Edwardsville Intelligencer, July 21, 1967)

William E. F. Bloemker, 84, of New Douglas rural route, died at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis at 5:40 p.m. Thursday. A retired farmer, he had lived in that area since 1951 and prior to that had lived in the Alhambra vicinity.

Born Jan. 21, 1883 in Hamel Township, he was a son of Ernest and Mary (Mueller) Bloemker. His wife, the former Sophia W. Determann died July 29, 1963. The couple was married Oct 4, 1908 in Alhambra.

Survivors are four sons, Alfred of New Douglas, Harold of Pocahontas, and Wilbur and Melvin of Highland; two daughters, Mrs. Anita Mollett and Mrs. Henry (Helen) Trauernicht, New Douglas; three brothers, Ernest and Clarence of Alhambra and Hugo of Brooklyn, Mich; four sisters, Miss Mary Bloemker, Hamel, Mrs. Minnie Kaufmann and Mrs. Catherine Shashek, Edwardsville, and Mrs. Lydia Sliva, Alhambra; 32 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

There are two stepsons, Charles and Walter Hamann of Hutchison and McPherson, Kan., respectively, and one stepdaughter, Mrs. Clara Schweppe of New Douglas, also surviving.

A son Milton and three daughters, Mildred and Velma Bloemker and Mrs. Ella Thiems, two brothers, Oscar and Theodore and one sister, Mrs. Lena Hoge, preceded him in death.

He was a member of Salem United Church of Christ where funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday. The Rev. Arnold Bizer, pastor, will officiate. Interment will be at the church cemetery.

The body is at the Lesicko Funeral Home where visitation will be from noon Saturday until 11 a.m. Sunday. The body will be in state at the church from 11:30 a.m. until the time of service.
