Chester R. "Chet" Farwell, 78, of Chillicothe passed away at 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2011, at his residence.

Born in Peoria, Ill., on Sept. 9, 1933, the son of Robert and Marian (Leas) Farwell, he married Janet Marie Knapp on Jan. 10, 1954, in Peoria, Ill.

Surviving are his wife, Janet of Chillicothe; four daughters, Becky Kubis of Peoria, Cheryl Followell of Decatur, Sue Rowe of Peoria and Chris (Chuck) Murphy of Peoria; eight grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Also surviving are one brother, Ronald (Leitha) Farwell of Ottawa, Kan.; one sister, Marilee (Ronald) Hiett of Chillicothe; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Chet graduated from Central High School and was an Air Force veteran.

He worked for the Producers Dairy in Peoria and later worked for Pabst Brewery in Peoria Heights, Ill. Chet and Janet ran their own antique business during his retirement years.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday at Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe. Dr. Ritch Boerckel will officiate. Burial will be in the Chillicothe City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Methodist Hospice Services or Rescue 33.
