Elsie F. White SMITHFIELD - Elsie Mae Felts White, 85, passed away Nov. 12, 2008 after a lengthy illness. Born in Southampton County, Elsie had lived most of her life in Isle of Wight. She was a life member of Pine Grove Assembly of God, where she taught Sunday school for many years. A devoted wife and beloved mother, grandmother and sister, Elsie was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph "Buster" Lloyd White, and two brothers, Clifton J. Felts and James M. Felts. She leaves to cherish her memories, her two daughters, Carol W. Darden and Betty Lou W. Edwards and her husband Johnny; six grandchildren, Terry Darden DeVries (Dave), Kimberly L. Darden, Karen E. Webb (Steve), J. Marc Edwards (Michelle), Christopher L. Edwards (Cynthia), and R. Shawn Darden (Angel); five sisters, Nannie Council, Dorothy Wade, Louise Pittman, Frances Lassiter and Betty Abernathy; two brothers, Julian Felts and Bobby Felts; nine great-grandchildren; her beloved caretaker for many years, Louise Peden; and a host of nieces and nephews and extended family. A life celebration service was conducted at 2 p.m. Nov. 15 in Pine Grove Assembly of God, with the Rev. Jack Dobson officiating. Burial followed in Old St. Luke Cemetery, with a reception following to honor the family in the church social hall. Arrangements were in the care of Colonial Funeral Home, Smithfield.
