Margaret Allen, 91, of Effingham died at 4:40 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2010 at St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital, Effingham, IL.

Margaret was born on March 16, 1919 in Centralia, IL. The daughter of Ellis and Susan (Flick) Babbs she grew up with her five siblings in the Mason, IL area.

On October 1, 1938 she married the love of her life Delbert Allen in Terre Haute, IN. They had three sons Larry, David, and John. Delbert and Margaret had 53 happy years together. After retiring they enjoyed going to auctions and traveling. Delbert died June 4, 1991.

Margaret was a loving mom, grandma, and great-grandma. She was formerly employed at Fedders for 35 years retiring in 1982.

Margaret was a member of the First Baptist Church, Effingham and Order of the Eastern Star, Effingham. Her greatest joy was her grandkids and great-grandkids. Her life and activities had been curtailed the last few years because of health reasons. For the last several years June Grunloh became her caregiver and friend.

Surviving Margaret are sons, David and John Allen; and daughter-in-law, Alice Allen.

Remembering grandma are five grandchildren, Tammy Allen; Tonya Faber; and Kendra Bryant, Kevin Allen and Kent Allen; twelve great-grandchildren, Ashley Bushur, Cody Bushur, Tanner Bryant, Tiffany Bryant, Steven Bryant, Brianna Bryant, McKenzie Allen, Megan Allen, Noah Allen, Dalton Allen, Abigail Faber, and Will Faber.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband, Delbert; son, Larry; and grandson, Tim Allen; parents; sisters, Ivanell Katz, Catherine Renfro, Norma Jean Dartz; and brother, George Babbs.

Mom, Grandma, Great-Grandma will be sadly missed by her family.

Funeral services were held at Johnson Funeral Home, Effingham with Rev. Roger H. Marshall officiating.

Burial was in Arborcrest Memorial Park, Effingham, IL.
