BOBBY BURGAMY

Mr. Bobby Paul Burgamy, 61, of Whitney died Wednesday, July 16, in Whitney. He was born June 19, 1942 in Whitney, son of Harvel Luther and Naomi (Miller) Burgamy. He graduated from Whitney High School. He retired from Pollock Paper Company and owned and operated several businesses in Hillsboro, including cafes and antique stores. He was well known in Hill County for his musical talent. He played with such acts as Willie Nelson, David Frizzell, Moe Bandy, Whitey Schafer, Bill Mack, Floyd Tillman and many others. He was also known for his loving and tender heart and held many benefits for local families and entertained people from all over with his Chet Atkins-style guitar playing. He attended First Assembly of God Church in West. He was preceded in death by his father and brother, Jimmy. Survivors include: his mother; children, Richard Paul Burgamy of Malone, Kimberly Diane Masterson and husband, Stephen, of Idaho, Paula Kay Burk and husband, Darrell, of Woodbury, Michael Leon Burgamy and wife, Summer, of Tyler and Kristi LeAnn Patton and husband, Kyle, of Hillsboro; one brother, Steven Wayne Burgamy of Whitney; two sisters, Wanda Faye Claridy of Waco and Shirley Ann Crites of Whitney; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, at Marshall and Marshall Funeral Directors Chapel in Whitney with Rev. Richard Gilder officiating. Interment was at Whitney Memorial Park.
