Stephen married Mary Julia Kuhn on October 19, 1910 in St. Francis Xavier Church in Rochester, New York. They were married by Father Ferdinand Bogner. They had 12 children.

Stephen was an employee of the Rochester Heel Company for 25 years and later employed by the Rochester Post Office for almost 25 years. He liked to play cards, tell jokes and smoke cigars.

He was a member of the Noble Degree, Fourth Degree Chevaliers and was an Aide-de-Camp of the Rochester Regiment and a member of Commandery No. 40, Knights of St. John.

He was also belonged to the Holy Name and St. John's Benevolent Societies of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church. He was also a member of the Retired Post Office Employee's Association.
