Mrs. Nancy R. Cole.
Mrs. Nancy R. Cole was born Oct. 19, 1825, and died Oct. 9, 1899. She was the beloved wife of Lawson Cole and had walked along life's pathway by his side for nearly fifty years, leaving him in his old age to mourn her departure. Three children also survive her, Nat L. Cole, Mrs. D. N. Abernathy, and Mrs. M. L. Coggin.
Mrs. Cole was one of the best of women. For over fifty-five years she lived an earnest, humble follower of Christ, connected with the Missionary Baptist Church. Hers was more than a simple profession of religion – she possessed its graces. She was never known to turn any body away from her door hungry. She delighted to help the sick and the suffering. She did what she could. A most devoted wife and mother, a helpful neighbor, a true friend and, above all, a woman of high Christian character, she lived beloved by all who knew her and died to be sincerely mourned. Her body was laid away at the Rock Spring Cemetery near the church she loved so well.
May God bless the aged husband in his deep bereavement and may the last days of his life be cheered by the hope of a blessed and happy reunion bye and bye. May the children and grandchildren follow the steps of the departed to the Better Land, and as they grieve, find comfort in the Eternal Word that was so dear to her.

Mrs. Lawson Cole, an old and respected lady of Buffalo, after an illness of several days, died on last Monday morning at 3 o'clock. She was about 74 years of age and leaves a husband and three children to mourn her departure. Her remains were interred at Rock Spring Cemetery yesterday, Rev. W. C. Bledsoe conducting the funeral services. She had been a consistent member of the Baptist Church for a number of years. We sympathize with the bereaved ones.
