Obituary from POST REGISTER (IDAHO FALLS, ID) - 31 MARCH 2005:
MENAN -- Myron Irvin Hancock, 57, passed away March 29, 2005, at his home in Menan after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born August 3, 1947, in Rigby, Idaho, to Irvin LeRoy and Verba Jensen Hancock. He attended Menan Elementary, graduated from Rigby High School in 1965 and attended Ricks College.
On December 1, 1967, he married the love of his life, Darlene Cheney, in the Idaho Falls LDS Temple. His entire life was spent with her and their children working and serving in the small town of Menan.
He loved working and serving in his community and the LDS Church as Bishop and Stake President, where he developed many dear and lifelong friendships.
His family and farming were his greatest passions. His family will always cherish the memories of skipping rocks on the river, four-wheeling down the field, camping in the mountains, and hunting with his boys and friends. His 13 grandchildren were the light of his life and always loved to spend time with grandma and grandpa on the farm.
Family remaining are his wife, Darlene; children, Kim (Todd) Baker of Vernal, Utah, Matt (Nancy) Hancock of Idaho Falls, Ben (Helen) Hancock of Parma, Idaho, Daniel (Kari) Hancock of American Falls, Aaron (Amy) Hancock of Shelley, and Kristin (Jay) Stowell of Shelley, Idaho; 13 grandchildren; eight brothers and sisters, Connie (Bruce) McFarland of Farmington, Utah, Karen (Jim) Meldrum of Helena, Montana, Marie (Bruce) Fredrickson of Lewiston, Utah, Gayle (Dick) Powell of Idaho Falls, Rita (Bruce) Tingey of Centerville, Utah, Peggy Cornwall of Idaho Falls, Dean (Barbara) Hancock of Menan, and Carl (Joy) Hancock of Lewisville, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 1, in the Menan LDS Stake Center. Interment will be in Annis-Little Butte Cemetery under the direction of Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby.
