Eugene P. Scheidt, 74, of 1346 Marshall Ave., Cleveland, died Wednesday, July 21, 2004, at home with his family at his side, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Eugene was born May 8, 1930, in Sheboygan, to the late Joseph (Catherine) Schwinn Scheidt. He attended six years of school and in 1990 received his G.E.D. from Lakeshore Technical College.

He previously married Delores Klemme. On June 8, 1968, he married Judith Damrow.

He was employed by the Kohler Co. for 37 years, a member of Local 833, and retired from Local 1086 in 1995 after nine years of service.

He was a member of Cleveland Fish & Game. He was an avid sportsman enjoying hunting, fishing, and the time spent with his family and friends at Shawano Lake. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife Judith, Eugene is survived by his sons, Sherman (Melissa) Scheidt of Gibbsville, and Steven (Peggy) Scheidt of Cleveland; stepsons, Perry (Tammy) Bahrs of Sheboygan, Mark (Kelly) Bahrs of Elkhart Lake, and Cal (Pam) Bahrs of Rhine Center; his daughters, Sandy (Menhard) Sonnemann of Sheboygan, Cyndy (David) Macco of Howards Grove, Charlene (Bruce) Opitz of Sheboygan, Sharon (special friend, Denny Prahl) Hochkammer of Newton, and Kari (Jon) Gouger of Cleveland; and his stepdaughter, Kelly (Ray) Mlada of Chilton. He is further survived by 34 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brothers, Joseph (Carol) Scheidt, Adrian (Delores) Scheidt and Earl (Germaine) Scheidt. He was preceded in death by an infant sister, Carol.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, July 24 at 4 p.m. at the Zimmer Westview Funeral and Cremation Care Center (W2132 Garton Road, corner of state Hwy. 42 and county Hwy. JJ). Chaplain Ellyn Wheeler will officiate.

Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. Johannes cemetery in Cleveland.
