Funeral services for Mr. James "Jimmy" Alexander Conner, 75, of Groveton, Texas, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Groveton Funeral Home Chapel with Bros. Elton Music, Neil Kemper and Malcolm Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Apple Springs.

Mr. Conner was born March 26, 1930 in Houston County, Texas to O.P. and Liller Walker Conner and passed away on Feb. 22, 2006 at his residence. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church, a member of the No. 502 Masonic Lodge, Mineola, VFW, Beefmaster Breeders Universal and the Buyers Group supporting the Trinity County Fair & Youth Livestock Show. He retired after 31 years with United Tex. Trans. Co. and was also a rancher and welder. He was preceded in death by his parents, O.P. and Liller Conner; sister, Reba Anderson; brother, Bobby Conner and granddaughter, Leslie Reed. He leaves to survive his wife, Peggy Conner of Groveton; daughters and sons-in-law, Pam and Mark Reed of Prosper and Christy and Stephen Ecord of Pennington; grandchildren, Erin and Conner Reed of Prosper, Meredith and Emily Ecord of Pennington; sisters and brother-in-law, Jean and Hubert Lankford of Hudson and Mary Lisiecki of Lufkin; brother, Billy D. Conner of Kennard; sister-in-law, Alice Conner of Apple Springs; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be made to the James Conner Trinity County Fair Youth Scholarship Fund or the Mt. Zion Cemetery Association. Pallbearers will be Sam Carlton, Steve Carlton, Don Ray, Michael Ray, Michael Brown and Mike Hales.

Honorary pallbearers will be Billy Carlton, Terry Carlton, Sonny Sailer, Paul Haas, Joe Buck Clark and Devone Blair. The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday evening at Groveton Funeral Home. Groveton Funeral Home, directors.
