Francis Ambrose Connor, a son of Dr. Francis Connor and the former Miss Mary Dorothy Edwards, born in the bounds of Cokesbury, South Carolina; Francis was one of eleven children.

On December 6th 1838, Francis married Miss Frances Grace Hodges, daughter of Gen. George W. and Rebecca [née Douglass] Hodges. There were eleven children were born to this union:

Mary Eugenia (1841-1842)
Rebecca Capers (1842-1911)
Landon Finch (1844-1877)
Martha Julia (1846-1924)
George Legare (1849-1914)
Edwin Dubose (1850-1880)
Fannie (1851-1851)
Preston Brooks (1855-1944)
Frank Pierce (1857-1859)
Annie Mary (1858-1940)

In 1854, Francis Ambrose Connor became the first President of the Masonic Female College of South Carolina in Cokesbury and later elected Cokesbury's District Administrator in 1859.

After Frances died in 1876, Francis married Mrs. S.Jane Springs, of Rock Hill, South Carolina on October 24th 1877. There were no children born to this union.

After Jane died in 1881, Francis married Miss Julie E. Evans on April 19th 1883; no known children.

Francis Ambrose Connor departed this life on the 22nd of July 1893 in the 75th year of his age. He was laid to rest near his parents & wives who preceded him.

The home that Francis A. Connor bulit for his growing family in 1850, known as The Connor-Hodges House is still standing and was listed on the National Register in August 25, 1970, as part of the Old Cokesbury District.
