Visitation for John J.J. Jackson, 63, of Kankakee, will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Clancy-Gernon-Hertz Funeral Home, west Kankakee, where funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Andy Anthony will officiate.
Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. He died Tuesday (Sept. 27, 2011) at his home.
Mr. Jackson was an employee of Federal Signal Corp. in University Park, had been a heating and air conditioning instructor at Kankakee Community College and had also worked for McConnell Refrigeration. He was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Camden, N.J., the son of John and Agnes Sammons Jackson. He was a graduate of Bradley-Bourbonnais Community High School, served in the U.S. Navy in Vietnam and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Kankakee VFW. He enjoyed grilling, cooking and golfing.
Surviving are his wife, Janice L. Jackson, whom he married May 16, 1981, in Phoenix, Ariz.; one son and daughter-in-law, Jacob and Kristin Jackson, of Bourbonnais; one daughter and son-in-law, Janel and Josh Johnson, of Bourbonnais; two grandchildren, Kode Johnson and Laila Jackson; and one sister, Pat Walsh, of Kankakee.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
