After her parents death, Dixie was raised by her aunt, Lydia J Keatley and Levi Bird in Speedway, West Virginia. She married her 3rd cousin, Troy Hight but were divorced soon after the marriage. Dixie did not remarry and no children. After the divorce, Dixie went to Huntington where she worked ina dress factory for many years until she retired.
