FUNERAL OF MRS. FRENCH

Good Woman, Who Died from Infirmities of Old Age, Given Affectionate Burial by her Son

The funeral of Mrs. Hester French, who died on Thursday, was held yesterday afternoon, conducted by Rev. George E. Foster, pastor of Epworth Methodist Episcopal Church, at the parlors of Cunningham & O'Connor. Mrs. French was 80 years of age, and died from the infirmities of old age, after having suffered for four months from a broken ankle. The funeral was attended by her son, J. A. Downs, Mrs. Downs, and other friends. Interment was at Rosedale cemetery, where she was laid by the side of her daughter, Mrs. L. K. Grace (sic), who died two years ago.

Last June Mrs. French fell and broke her ankle and her son and son-in-law, the latter living in Arizona, finding that her injury would not heal on account of her age, took her to the hospital, where they have paid regularly for her care. She was an excellent woman, always in good health, but her great age gave her no chance for recovery from the accident.
