Mabel Carey GLENN SEPTEMBER 15, 1945 HOLTON RECORDER Obituary -- Mabel C. Glenn, daughter of William and Helen Carey, was born at Conneaut, Ohio, February 7, 1867, and passed away at her home in Holton September 15, 1945, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 8 days.

At the age of six she came with her parents to Iowa. They lived here a short time, later moving to Garfield, Kans. From here the family moved to Soldier, Kans., where she grew to womanhood. Choosing teaching as a profession she taught at the Anderson and Pea Ridge Schools.

On June 3, 1891, she was married to William John Glenn of Soldier. They settled on a farm northwest of Soldier. To this union were born six children: Lt. Col. Edgar W. Glenn of Washington, D.C., Carl G. Glenn of Holton, Helen Margaret, who died in infancy, Mrs. Alice Eubanks of Denison, Mrs. Gladys Arnold and Miss J. Elnora Glenn of Holton. Two sisters, Mrs. Frank Glenn and Miss Frances Carey, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild remain to mourn her passing.

In 1894 the family moved to Corning, Kans., living there ten years. From Corning they came to Holton which has been her home ever since.

She joined the Christian church of Soldier at an early age, later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian church at Corning and then Holton. She was a faithful attendant of her church and the Naomi Bible class as long as health permitted.

Mrs Glenn's elder son, Lt. Col. E. W. Glenn, on account of congested transportation, was unable to be at the funeral. Four of her five grandsons have been in the service of their country. Gilbert Glenn, who served two years in the medical corps, received an honorable discharge; Roger Eubanks with the Air Forces stationed at Yuma, Arizona, Charles Glenn in the Maritime Service is in San Francisco at present; and Loren Arnold of the Navy somewhere in the Pacific having sailed from Seattle, Wash., recently.

Funeral services were held at the Gabel and McAsey Mortuary Tuesday afternoon and interment made at the Holton cemetery. The Rev. Howard D. Johnson, assisted by Rev. T. J. Miller, officiated. Mrs. George Fisher and Miss Doris Roebke sang two beautiful selections accompanied by Miss Mary Todd. Pallbearers were: Mr. Robert Todd, Mr. Otto Haag, Mr. Walter Tudor, Mr. Walter Bennett, Mr. Harold Gordon and Mr. Roy Eubanks.
