WORLD WAR II VETERAN

Obit-hand written
When the summer grains were gathered and the splendor of autumn was with us, on the last Saturday Sept 28th while the birds were singing their morning carolds, one dear to us, left earth's twilight and shadows to face the sunrise of a new day. "Soon the birds will be going south followiing a restless path-like the homing instinct in the soul of man"

Victor Hugo said " I can say I have finished my days works, but cannot say I have finished my life. My work will begin again the next morning. The tomb is not a blind alley. It is a thouroughfar. It closes on the twilight, it opens on the dawn.

Fifty years ago into the home of William and Etta Miller, 3 miles south of Aurelius Center, in Onondaga Township, a son, Howard Edward, was born. It was a happy event in the home that August day.

He early years were spend in the vicinity where he was born.

In 1912 he was married to Miss Myrle Opdyke, a teacher in the No. 6 School, Onondage.

"Some days will never pass away.
We cherish still out wedding day,
and mark it as the happiest one
of all that since have come and gone."
For whether we looked or whether we listened, we heard life murmur or saw it glisten.

To the union of Howard and Myrle Miller 3 chilren were born, Ralph, Ruth and Royston. The family circle was happy and complete.

Howard Miller was a farmer. One who works with nature finds that to him she speaks a various language- It has been said by the poet that "there is no unbelief Whoever plants a seed beneath the sod and waits to see it push away the clod-He trusts in God"

For 15 years after the marriage of Howard Miller, the family lived in the vicinity of Eden and Aurelius Center. Twelve years ago, they bought a farm on the county line between Eaton and Ingham county, 4 miles west of Aurelius Center in Aurelius township. It was from this home Mr miller passed last Saturday morning, leaving an empty chair and lonely hearts.

Like most people He live his life within the space of heart and home and friendship true.
The small realm known as as "commomplace",
Where there is nothing great to do
There was a garden that he kept
There was a home his tort maintained
There was a wall where ivy crept
A roof that sheltered when it rained.

Howard Miller was a kind neighbor and will be missed in his community.
He lived for those who loved him
For those who knew him true
For the heaven that sent above him
and the good that he could so-
For the wrongs that need resistance,
For the cause that lacked assistance
For the future in the distance
And the good that he could do.

To mourn his passing is his faithful wife, Myrle and his 3 children, Ralph Miller of Eaton Rapids; Ruth Schofield of Kalamazoo; amd Royston who lives in the home of his parents. Five Grandchilren; Joyce, Shirley, and Raph Miller. Also Myrle and Patricia Schofield. His father William Miller of Aurelius and his sister Mrs. Sarah Darrow of Onondaga Township.

The sympathy of the community goes out to the bereaved family, who mourn the passing of their loved one.

"And thought in the sun he cast no shad
No voice is heard. No sight is made.
No step is on the Conscions floor
Yet love will drean and father will trust-
Since who knows our needs is just-
Who hath not learned in hours of faith-
That life is ever Loard of death
And love can never loose it own?
