GULFPORT - Alena M. Ladnier, 87, died Thursday, Feb. 25, 1999, in Gulfport.

Mrs. Ladnier was born April 1, 1912, in Lizana and was a native and lifelong resident of Harrison and Jackson Counties. She attended Perkinston Junior College and for many years operated a dairy farm in Saucier. She was employed by the Harrison County Sheriff's Department as a bailiff and also worked at William's Pecan Factory and Stone's Ice Cream Parlor. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Gulfport and St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lizana.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dionisus "Dione" Ladnier and Marie "Mamie" Dedeaux Ladnier; her husband, Purvis R. Ladnier; and a son, Ronald C. Ladnier; a sister, Verla Beaver; and two brothers, Wilmer Ladnier and Wilfred Ladnier.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 tonight at Riemann Memorial Funeral Home, U.S. 49 North, Gulfport. A procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Monday for an 11 a.m. service at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Lizana. Burial will follow in Wolf River Cemetery
