Ethel E. Lais, 80, of 1623 W. Lake Ave. died Friday, Dec. 26, 2003, at Proctor Hospital.

Born Feb. 24, 1923, in LaJunta, Colo., to John K. and Ruth G. Cooprider Zook, she married Arthur W. Lais on Aug. 28, 1943, in Hubbard, Ore. He survives.

Also surviving are four sons, Gerard, Fredric, Gregory and James; two daughters, Marci Pesch and Valeri Lais; four brothers, Wesley Zook, Harold Zook, Bill Zook and Herbert Zook; two sisters, Kathryn Chambers and Irene Martin; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister.

A licensed practical nurse, she worked for Methodist Medical Center for eight years and later at OSF Saint Francis Medical Center for seven years. She last worked as an EKG technician at Proctor Hospital for 14 years. She taught children for the last 10 years as part of the community Bible study group at Grace Presbyterian Church.

She was a member of Fellowship Bible Church.
