Mrs. Clements was born on October 23, 1937, in Albemarle County, the daughter of the late James Edward and Margaret Johnson Sprouse. She was a fraternity mother for many years, cooking for Chi Phi and Delta Tau Delta Fraternities at the University of Virginia. She moved to the Valley 16 years ago from Charlottesville, where she had worked at Alston's Pub and retired. She attended the Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene.
She is survived by daughters, Mary Ann Graves and husband, Scott, of Penn Laird, Catherine L. "Sissy" Clements and fiance, Bill Darnell, of McGaheysville; sisters, Anne Chaffin of Nashville, Tennessee, Stella Elliott of Baltimore, Maryland; and a special dog, "Chloe".
Pastors Jim Harrison and Roger Hill will conduct the funeral service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, October 1, 2011, at the Kyger Funeral Home Chapel in Harrisonburg. Burial will follow at East Lawn Memorial Gardens near Harrisonburg.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Friday, September 20, 2011, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Harrisonburg First Church of the Nazarene, 1871 Boyers Road, Harrisonburg, VA 22801.
