Carthage ill. Mary Agnes Habben, 91 of
Carthage, Ill. died at 12;45 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 6 2009, in
Hancock County Nursing Home, Carthage.
She was born on March 19, 1918, in the family home in
Carthage, the daughter of Lawrence C. and Stella (Paris)
Cherrill.
She graduated from Carthage High School in 1935. She
received her bachelor of arts degree from Carthage
College in 1965 and her MSE from Western Illinois
University, Macomb, in 1969. She was a member of
Delta Kappa Gamma, Macomb, Theta Chapter.
She was an elementary school teacher, retiring in 1975,
She was a member of the National Retired Teachers. She
was a volunteer for the Carthage Senior Center for 25
years and Kappa Delta Pi (honor Society)
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church
in Carthage.
Survivors include a daughter Susan Elizabeth Ende of Rock Island, Ill. a grandson Curt (Ellen) Mumpower of
Quincy, Ill., a granddaughter, Cathy Codd of Quincy,
two great-granddaughters Abbie Mumpower and Casey Codd,
a sister Alice Cherrill Habben of Carthage, a niece,
Mary Ann (Bernie) Taus of Carthage, and a greatnephew and
niece, Johnathan and Allyson Taus of Carthage.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a twin sister,
Amelia Grace Cherrill in 1918, and a granddaughter,
Carye Sue Mumpower in 1984.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Printy Funeral
home, Carthage, with burial to follow in Moss Ridge
Cemetery, Carthage. Visitation will be held one hour
prior to services at the funeral home.
Memorials may be directed to the Carthage Senior Center
Cement Project or Blessing Hospice of Hancock County.
Printy Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
