Ruby Ann Minney Cox, 77, of Buckhannon passed away at 8:36 p.m., Saturday, November 29, 2008 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg following a brief illness. She was born January 15, 1931, in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Sylvester David and Mollie Reed Minney. Ruby was a homemaker, graduate of Normantown High School; was a former employee of Jack and Jill Day Care in Buckhannon and later provided independent childcare services in her home. She was a Methodist by faith. On May 5, 1949, she was married to Lawrence Dale Cox, who preceded her in death June 16, 2005. In addition to her parents and husband, five brothers: Clark, Leonard, Edmund, Ersal and Bradford Minney and one sister Lottie Alice Minney also preceded her in death.

She is survived by son Steven Cox and his wife Deborah of Rochester, N.Y.; three daughters: Markita Conner and husband Larry of Dumfries, Va., Becky Knabenshue and husband Pat of Hurricane and Bobbi Spencer and companion Mike Curran of Nutter Fort; eight grandchildren: Cliff and Jason Conner, Kristin and Steven Dale Cox, Benjamin and Cara Knabenshue, and Sgt. Thad Spencer and Evan "Digger" Spencer, and great-granddaughter Mackenzie Spencer; three brothers: Kesslie Minney of Sand Fork, Frank Minney of Stumptown and Sylvester Minney of Manassas, Va.; and two sisters: Irene Payne and Patty Pryor both of Virginia.

Friends may call today, December 3, 2008 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Ellyson Mortuary. Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 4, 2008 at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville with the Rev. Don Fowler officiating. Burial will follow in the Cox Family Cemetery, Grass Run, Letter Gap, W.Va.
