Services for Lawrence "L.C." Sparks, 82, of Caldwell Route 7, who died Monday, May 2, at a Caldwell hospital, will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Middleton First Ward Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Middleton by Bishop Raymond Weber of the Middleton First Ward.

Interment will follow at the Middleton Cemetery, under the direction of the Flahiff Funeral Chapel, Caldwell.

He was born April 22, 1901, at Clarkston, Utah, to William and Clara White Sparks. He moved with his family as a small child to Smithfield, Utah, where he was reared and educated. He worked on the family farm at Clarkston for several years. He attended a trade school in Kansas City, Mo., where he studied auto mechanics. In 1921, he moved to Long Beach, Calif., and returned to Clarkston in 1924.

He married Gertrude Burt Dec. 21, 1925, at Smithfield, Utah, where he farmed for four years. They moved to Ogden in 1929, where he worked as an auto mechanic and to Garland, Utah, in 1930. They moved to Burley in 1934, and to Mountain Home in 1935. They moved to Boise in 1936, and he worked as a shop foreman and service manager for Royce Davidson Ford Garage for many years. He operated the Grove Street service station for several years. He sold the service station in 1950, and moved to a farm in the Black Canyon area north of Caldwell. He retired in 1960. He was a member of the Marsing First Ward L.D.S. Church.

He is survived by his wife of Caldwell; two sons, Ken Sparks of Boise and Warren Sparks of LaMesa, Calif.; two daughters, Jessie Thomas of Brazil, Ind., and Athlene Fuller of Boise; a brother, Alfred W. Sparks of Auburn, Ga.; 12 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four half brothers, William, David, George and Roy Sparks; and two sisters, Maggie Cutler and Lela Griffith.

Friends may call at theme chapel today until 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m.; and at the L.D.S. Church in Middleton Thursday from noon to 12:45 p.m.
