US Congressman. He graduated from Union University, the Albany Law School in 1926, was admitted to the bar and proceeded to practice law in Saratoga Springs, New York. He was acting Saratoga Springs city judge, (1936-41), assistant district attorney of Saratoga County, (1942-50) and Saratoga County district attorney, (1950-61). In 1961, he was elected as a Republican to the Eighty-seventh Congress and reelected to the next six succeeding Congresses, serving until 1974. An unsuccessful candidate for reelection, he resumed the practice of law until his death at age 73.
