Tommy was the first of 7 children born to Thomas Hing, Sr. and Mary Ann Porter. He served in the U. S. Army and he was a "jack of all trades," working as a mechanic, carpenter, commercial fisherman, and he owned and operated an upholstery shop. Tommy was an avid reader, hunter and fisherman. He was married three times and had a daughter, Lori Kay, with his first wife. It was his wish to have his cremains scattered in the ocean or in a river.
