Charles Cleo (Chuck) Stone lost his fight with cancer Friday, moving on to join his Lord and Savior. Chuck graduated from high school in Concrete, WA and entered the army during World War II. He was wounded during the invasion of Peleliu Island in the Pacific and was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his discharge, Chuck graduated from Washington State College and started his teaching career at Tekoe, WA before moving to Kennewick. He taught briefly at Eastgate Elementary but spent most of his career teaching 5th grade at Westgate Elementary where he also coached several sports. Basketball was his favorite sport and he was still amazing neighbor kids with his ability to make long series of shots without a miss in his early 80s. Chuck was preceded in death by his father (Charles), mother (Vera), two brothers (David and Marion), sister (June) and granddaughter (Angela). He is survived by his wife Patty, daughters Sally Rhodes (Dave) of Richland, Carol Stone of Riddle, OR, Cindy Felton (Rick) of Arvada, CO, Mary Brantley (Bill) of Kennewick; sons, Jerry of Bend, Or, Paul of Kennewick, Jim of Kennewick and Charlie (Robin) of Kennewick and numerous grand and great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Mueller's Chapel of The Falls, 314 W. 1st. Ave., Kennewick, WA on September 30, 2011 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm followed by a rosary at 7:30pm There will be a funeral mass at the old St. Joseph Catholic Church, 520 S. Garfield, Kennewick on Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 1:00pm. Graveside service will be held at Desert Lawn Memorial Park, 1401 S. Union, Kennewick, WA on Saturday, October 1, 2011.
