Rev. David D. Allen Jr., 77, of Lancaster, PA, entered heaven to meet his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Friday, November 3, 2017.
Born in Trenton, NJ, on January 29, 1940, to the late Dr. David D. Allen Sr. and Dorothy Smith Allen, David was raised in Royal Oak, MI. At the age of twelve, David surrendered his life to Christ and spent the rest of his life serving Him.
David is survived by his dear wife, Grace, with whom he shared life and ministry for 55 years. God blessed their marriage with four children: David III of Brockport, NY; Donald of Frisco, TX; Douglas, husband of Cynthia, of Fort Worth, TX; and Elizabeth, wife of Bob Muehlbach, of Lancaster. He took great delight in his eight grandchildren: Sophia, Katarina, Molly, Isaac, Maggie, Genevieve, Juliette, and a girl yet unborn.
After graduating from Philadelphia College of Bible (Cairn University) and Dallas Theological Seminary, David pastored churches in Arizona, Michigan, Colorado, and Texas, before coming to Calvary Church of Lancaster, where he served on the pastoral staff for 27 years before retiring in 2015. He also served on the corporation of Lancaster Bible College.
A consummate people person, David relished time with family and friends. He enjoyed reading and playing the trumpet when not rooting for the Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies. A lifelong runner, David knew the joy of completing four marathons with his son Doug.
With gratitude, peace, and contentment, David enters his eternal home, where he will be waiting for his family and all those who have trusted Christ as their Savior.
