Funeral services for Edward C. Korn, 32, of Hillsboro, Or., well known young lumberman who died May 5 from injuries suffered in the Schofer Brothers camp. No. 15, near Doty, were held May 8 at Centralia, Wash., with final rites at Helvetia, Or., where he spent most of his childhood and early manhood. The services were conducted by the American Legion.
His death was caused when he was struck on the head by a heavy clevis which fell from a tree a distance of 100 feet.
Mr. Korn had been with the Schofer Brothers company for more than seven years and had planned to go into business for himself.
He was born in Hillsboro, Or., January 8, 1899, attended the school in Orenco, Or., and studied the electrical trade in Minneapolis, Minn. At the age of 19, he enlisted in the United States marine corps in which he served during the world war.
The surviving relatives include his widow, Mrs. Irene Korn; two children, Robert Edward Korn, 8, and Kathryn Julia Korn, 4; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. C.E. Korn, Hillsboro, Or.; seven sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hershey, Hillsboro; Mrs. Julia Hersey of Bacona, Or.; Mrs. Clara Wenger of Portland, Edna Korn of Hillsboro, Minnie Korn and Mrs. Frieda McNulty of San Francisco, and Lydia Korn of Kobe, Japan, and one brother, John E. Buehler of Portland
