Harry Dean Bollman, 70, died Friday, July 20, 2007, in an automobile accident in Lakewood, Colo.

Private graveside services and internment will be in Rural Township Cemetery, near Beulah Presbyterian Church, Rock Island County. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the American Cancer Society Chapter of Rock Island County. Kirk, Huggins & Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion, is assisting with the arrangements.

He was born May 25, 1937, to Dorothy and Harry Bollman, on the family farm on County Farm Road south of Coal Valley. Dean attended country schools in Rural Township until the family moved to Loveland, Colo., in 1949. His parents returned to the farm in 1957.

Dean met Diane Lee Edison in Denver while they were students at the University of Denver. They were married in Denver on May 3, 1959.

Dean was employed with the federal government's office of personnel management for nearly 30 years. During this time, he and his family lived in Denver, Virginia, Hawaii and Maryland. His final work years were spent in the suburbs of Atlanta, Ga., where he resided until Diane's death 10 years ago. He then moved to Maryland to be with his oldest son, daughter-in-law and grandchildren until last year, when he returned to the Denver area to be near his special friend, Jean Robenstein, whom he re-connected with at his 50th high school reunion.

Dean is survived by his sister, Barbara Anderson, Moline; his sons, Douglas Dean Bollman, Gaithersburg, Md., and Andrew David Bollman, Durham, N.C.; his daughter-in-law, Marcia Bollman; two grandchildren, Melissa and Brian Bollman; and three nieces and two nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his father in 1968, his mother in 1984, and his brother-in-law, Robert Anderson, in 2007.

Dean will be buried in the family plot next to his beloved Diane.
