Robert was the youngest of four children, brothers, Bill and Carol and sister Wylma Riley.
Bob graduated from Kimball County High School in 1940. Joined the Navy November 7, 1942, as a Deepsea Diver, going in on the invasion of France aboard the U.S.S. Arikara and making quite a few dives around Le Havre, Cherburgh, and Brest. Bob received the Navy Unit Commendation Ribbon. He received his discharge January 19, 1946.
Married Colleen L. Gunderson, daughter of Mervin and Pearl Gunderson of Dix, November 28, 1946. To them were born four children, Randy, Jerry, Corlis and Gary.
Bob and Gary (age 15) were killed in an oil field explosion January 17, 1982 in the Scottsbluff area.
Jerry was killed in a boating accident July 4, 1986, near Wheatland, Wyoming.
