Vandalia Leader 2/16/2011 10:33:04 AM Funeral services for Carolyn S. Cook, 53, of Center were held at 2 p.m. February 12, 2010 at the Bienhoff Funeral Home in Perry with the Reverend Mike Barter officiating. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery. Mrs. Cook passed away February 9 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Cook was born November 12, 1957 in St. Louis, Mo. to James I. and Shirley Starkey Nett. Survivors include her life-long partner of 24 years, Danny Howald of Center; one son, Shawn (Rose) Nett of Center; two daughters, Lori (Scott Fuget) Cook of Vandalia, and Cheyenne Howald of the home. Two brothers, Jim (Eileen Mershon) Nett, and Larry (Lisa Barlow) Nett; one sister, Sharon (Ralph) See of Vandalia. Nine grandchildren, Mercede Nett, Dakota Nett, Gretchen Nett, Alex Smith, Alexis Smith, Brittany Fuget, Brian Fuget, Jalynn and Jazlynn Howald; two very dear nieces, Dawn Butler and Jessica Marshall; one uncle, Raymond Starkey of Denver, Colo.; and many special cousins. She was preceeded in death by her parents and one brother, Timothy Nett. Carolyn graduated from Wright City High School in 1975. She was employed at Grand View Nursery in Hannibal for 13 years and the Cannon Dam Opry in Perry for many years. Mrs. Cook was a Baptist by faith. She loved spending time with her family and friends and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren. Carolyn enjoyed taking and receiving family pictures. She enjoyed collecting snowmen and Beanie Babies. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Bienhoff Funeral Home.
