William F. Doerner, 94, of Norwalk died Monday evening, Aug. 23, 2010, in Stein Hospice Care Center.
He was born Sept. 26, 1915, in Bellevue, son of the late Gustav Adolph and Lucinda (Smith) Doerner. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942-45. He worked 30 years at Sandusky New Departure, retiring in 1980.
He is survived by his children, David (Barbara) Doerner of Perrysburg, Roger Doerner of Willard and Deborah Scharlotte of Kent; siblings, Lewis Doerner of Milan, Donald Doerner of Norwalk, Robert Doerner of Milan, Doris Quayle of Norwalk, Wilma Russ of Milan, June Weilnau of Milan, Marge Mittower of Fremont, Marian Webb of Milan and Judith Haas of Norwalk; six grandsons; four great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lela M. (Rockwell) Doerner; brother, Russell Doerner; and sisters, Dorothy Haag and Helen Mittower.
Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday in Evans Funeral Home, 314 E. Main St., Norwalk. A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Friday in Milan Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Church St., Milan. Burial will follow in Milan Cemetery.
