Services for Franklin Abbott, 77, of 12715 148th Ave., Orion, are 3 p.m. Saturday at Beulah Presbyterian Church, rural Orion. Burial is in Beulah Cemetery.
Visitation is 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Kirk, Huggins and Esterdahl Funeral Home, Orion. Memorials may be made to the church, where he was a member, an elder and served on the building committee.
Mr. Abbott died Thursday, Sept. 22, 1994, at Trinity Medical Center, East Campus, Moline.
He was born Oct. 24, 1916, in Kent, Ind., the son of Thomas and Laura Davis Abbott. He married Aletha Brown Jan. 28, 1945, in Morris, Ill.
He attended the University of Illinois.
He farmed for 47 years in the Rural Township area.
He was interested in soil and water conservation in the Rock Island County area and received the Conservation Farmer Award.
Survivors include the widow; daughters, Sylvia Jean Posateri, Milan, and Cheryl Wright, Glenwood Springs, Colo.; a son, John Thomas Abbott, Orion; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Lydia Herrin, New Hope, Ala.
