Alvay J. Murray (Frostburg)

FROSTBURG — Alvay James Murray, 93, formerly of Burton Park Drive, Frostburg, died Friday, Dec. 29, 2006, at the residence of his grandson in Somers Point, N.J.

Born Dec. 22, 1913, in Johnstown, Pa., he was the son of the late Alvay Edward Murray and Dorothy Elizabeth (Glessner) Murray. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Mary Murray; two sisters; one brother; and his daughter, Judy.

Mr. Murray was an ice cream maker by profession. He attended the Christ Lutheran Church.

Surviving are two sons, Lawrence Allen Murray and his wife, Maureen of Ocean City, N.J., and Barry James Murray and his wife, Lee, of Rockledge, Fla.; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren, Angelina Lee and Layla Heather; three sisters; Bernice Shannon, of Baltimore, Vivian Carnell and her husband, Jack Carnell, of Cumberland, and Donna Jean Claypoole and her husband, John, of Sykesville; two brothers, Dr. Jack L. Murray and his wife, Laura-Vera, of Cumberland, and William Murray and his wife, June, of The Villages, Fla.; and a special caretaker and granddaughter, Tammy, of Somers Point, N.J.

Friends will be received at the Hafer Chapel of the Hills Mortuary, 1302 National Highway, LaVale, on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted in the funeral home chapel on Thursday, Jan. 4, 2007, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles A. Erzkus officiating.

Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Baltimore.

Pallbearers will be Barry Murray, Scott Murray, Jay Carnell, Larry Murray, Dr. Jack Murray, Jr. and Fred Ketterman.
