On the 1900 St. Charles, MO, census, Helena (Selden) Meinershagen (Mrs.) indicated that she had five children and that five were living. Those children were probably Amanda Alvina, Julius, Walter, Clara, and Flora. Two other Meinershagens lived in the household, identified as nephews, William age 18 and Fred age 17.
William of the 1900 household was William Henry Meinershagen born 25 Dec 1881. On 3 June 3 1903, William Henry H. married Bertha W L Holzkamp in St. Charles. The couple moved to Pulaski, AR, by 1920. No children were listed on census entries 1910-1930.
Fred of the 1900 household was Frederick Adolph Meinershagen born 02 May 1883. He died 27 April 1913 of tuberculosis of the lungs in St. Charles. Parents were listed as Henry Meinershagen and Annie Selden. Informant was Henry Meinershagen; therefore, this young man is linked to Henry and Anna Meinershagen.
One suspects that this Meinershagen family was decimated by that ages-old villain, tuberculosis.
